In Win O-Ring is a pretty cheap product hence In Win has provided all the available colors to us. Soft plastic container with some semi transparent windows is used for In Win O-Ring. Both of the famous awards are printed on the packaging; iF product design and Design & Engineering Showcase Honors.

Nothing much is bundled for In Win O-Ring except a multi-languages user's guide which explains the usages of In Win O-Ring clearly. Three year warranty is given for In Win O-Ring which is more than enough for such simple product. 

 

A Closer Look On In Win O-Ring

As we mentioned previously In Win O-Ring has obtained both of the famous awards in year 2010 category which clearly shows that In Win O-Ring is definitely well-designed and get recognized or else it will not able to beat the rest of the products and become one of the awarded products.

 

Now let us reveal the mystery for you, basically In Win O-Ring is an additional bracket protection for 2.5" external HDD enclosure which helps to further against the knocks and bumps for valuable data protection. The round shape enhances the compatibility so that most of the 2.5" external HDD can be fitted in.

 

Three attractive vivid colors are available for In Win O-Ring; pink, blue and green. In Win O-Ring is made by non-toxic silicon material which is highly durable and unbreakable. The diameter of In Win O-Ring is about 106mm but it is stretchable from 252mm to 330-460mm.

 

The interior portion of In Win O-Ring comes with dotted design which provides better grip ability to hold the 2.5" external HDD enclosure firmly without slipping. A USB 2.0 connector is used on In Win O-Ring; mini-B USB connector for the 2.5" external HDD enclosure while type A USB connector for computer.

 

In Win O-Ring is also come with a holder with 5" long cable making it always ready-to-go without connecting to the standard bored USB cable. Besides that the In Win O-Ring's type A USB connector is well protector by an attached silicon cap; something not necessary but nice to have. 

Installation, Testing & Performance

No rocket science methodology is required to test out In Win O-Ring and we have quite number of 2.5" external HDD enclosures to play with it. Most of the external HDD enclosures are having similar size and you may try to stretch out the In Win O-Ring first to make it loosen for easier mounting.

The USB connector has to be connected first before mounting the external HDD enclosure within the In Win O-Ring. In Win O-Ring is not compatible with those cheap 2.5" external HDD enclosures as most of these enclosures will come with type A USB connector at the enclosure's end instead of mini-B USB connector.

Once the USB connector is connected properly then it is time to stretch the In Win O-Ring so that the external HDD enclosure can be fully enclosed within the In Win O-Ring; make sure to adjust the In Win O-Ring so that each of the corners of the external HDD enclosure are fully protected.

Once the external HDD enclosure is fitted within the In Win O-Ring then the installation could be considered done as benchmarking test is not required at all since In Win O-Ring is not going to have any additional read/write speed but it might give better durability than those bundled lousy USB cables.

 

Verdicts

Once again In Win has just delivered another innovative and think-out-of-the-box product; the O-Ring. Besides that such design will indirectly encourage other vendors to invest and produce other innovative and beneficial products to the consumers. In Win O-Ring might not be useful for everyone but if you are looking for an economic way to further protect your valuable data in your 2.5" external HDD then In Win O-Ring is really something you should look for; furthermore it just costs less than 7USD.
