Specifications

Package & Contents
Evercool Dr. Cool comes with a cardboard box; slightly smaller than a CPU cooler but overall the design is pretty attractive and eye-catching. Product description, features and specifications are well written at the back of the box in both English and Chinese languages.
Same with other "Go Green Initiative" companies, Evercool Dr. Cool is only protected by a piece of cardboard paper instead of foam which is hard to be biodegraded. In term of accessories, only an AC-to-DC USB adapter and a USB charging cable are bundled.
A Closer Look on Evercool Dr.Cool

Before Evercool Dr. Cool was launched, we have never come across our mind that a router could get a cooler for itself as well since it is running 24x7 nonstop for most of the time. This is an innovative idea and Evercool has turned it into a reality; a world's first patented router cooler.
The overall dimension and weight of Evercool Dr. Cool's white plastic enclosure are 151 x 145 x 80 mm and 263g but the length could be further extracted to support longer device; up to 210mm. This is a great feature as most of the routers do come with different sizes and shapes.
There are two C-shaped rods on the top panel of Evercool Dr. Cool which are rubber coated; giving better soft contact with the ground or the device that is sitting on top of it. FYI there is not defined top or bottom panels as Evercool Dr. Cool can be placed in either way.
Evercool Dr. Cool is a pretty simple cooler where it does not come with much fancy thing; just a DC jack and a clip release button. Evercool Dr. Cool can be powered up either by a computer's USB port or straight draw the power from the wall socket via bundled USB cable & AC-to-DC adapter.
Both of the clips can be extracted/adjusted to support longer device but the clip release button must be pressed in order to unlock them. The cooling fan is directly blowing toward the router so it is good to keep some distance between the fan and the router to have great cooling efficiency.
Evercool Dr. Cool is equipped with a 80 x 80 x 10mm slim DC fan with 2500RPM and 21dBA. This fan is definitely able to cool down most of the devices and 21dBA is not noticeable at all so no worries about the noise. Besides that Evercool Dr. Cool is using long life bearing to prolong its life span.

There are three ways to mount the router on Evercool Dr. Cool which is shown as above. However we believe the first and second methods are much efficiency since the fan is directly blowing toward the router; furthermore the third method is not as secure as other methods.

This is the airflow circulation way and Evercool Dr. Cool has no problem to cool down most of the devices. Besides the router, Evercool Dr. Cool can be used to cool down other devices as well such as iPad, small size netbook, HDD enclosure, network storage and etc as long as it can be fitted in.

FYI here is the exact dimension and layout of Evercool Dr. Cool where it can be used as the reference to find out the compatibility with your device before making the purchase.
Installation, Testing & Performance
Evercool Dr. Cool is a specialized router cooler and we could not wait further to get it tested with our router; TP-Link TD-W8950ND. Due to our closed-room environment, the default temperature of this TP-Link router is pretty high; about 40C which was unbelievable when we turned it on for the first time and we thought it could be a malfunction unit but it is still functioning after several weeks. However the router is not going to last long if the temperature is being kept at this level hence Evercool Dr. Cool was bought in to kill this issue permanently.
We have placed the Evercool Dr. Cool in upside down position with TP-Link TD-W8950ND where we believe it is a more appropriate method to cool down the router in a secure way. The router temperature was lowered down about 10C immediately after it was mounted on Evercool Dr. Cool. The new temperature does not hurt at all where we can hold/touch the router's enclosure as long as we want and it is not possible without the help of Evercool Dr. Cool. This is really incredible with such simple device and it solves our worries as the service of this router is very important for us to keep our CCTV surveillance alive; about 200KM away. No load or irritating noise is being generated by Evercool Dr. Cool so noise is not a concern at all; furthermore no one is going to sleep beside the router right.
Verdicts
Being the world's first specialized router cooler, Evercool Dr. Cool does a very good job to keep the router's temperature as close as room temperature. Many of us might not able to accept the idea why a router needs a cooler in the first place but if you encounter heat problem like us then you will probably change your mind and start to appreciate the concept of having this specialized router cooler. 29USD for such useful device is not expensive at all but it could probably just cost few dollars lesser than your router. However if keeping the Internet connection stable and reliable is important then we will say it is a must to have it or else you could just forget about it if heat is not a problem with your router.
Pros:
+ Pretty affordable
+ World's first specialized router cooler
+ Extend-able for greater compatibility
+ Different mounting methods
+ Other devices are supported too
+ Powered by up USB or wall adapter
Cons:
- NA
