Vizo Ninja HS comes with pretty attractive rectangular box and you may wonder why this notebook cooler is in rectangular shape? It is because Vizo Ninja HS comes with DIY style where end users need to assembly themselves and this could help to reduce the logistic cost and maybe material cost as well for Vizo; if the saving goes to users then will be better for lower down the MSRP. All the features, specifications were written on the packaging very clearly. This packaging box has a handle for user to carry them around easily.

 

 

Besides the outer packaging box, there is another harder plain box to keep and protect the Vizo Ninja HS with plenty of thick foams. So far this is one of the products that we have seen where the product is protected very well by the packaging.

  

Here is all the complete kit of Vizo Ninja HS. Besides the Vizo Ninja HS cooler itself, it still comes with few more accessories; USB cable, four thumb screws for assembly the cooler and a page of simple user guide.

Vizo Ninja HS

 

Vizo Ninja HS has two editions; with and without the USB2.0 hub and we will suggest with the USB 2.0 Hub version especially for those slim notebooks which has limited USB ports. Vizo Ninja HS is unique and unlike the rest of common notebook cooler because its fan can be adjusted to the specific hot zone of the notebook to ensure the notebook can be cool down efficiently. Basically Vizo Ninja HS consists of three major modules; left & right side modules and the main cooler.

 

Vizo Ninja HS is designed for green environment where it uses lesser material and it is made by aluminum casing for better heat dissipation. Vizo Ninja HS is 350mm long and it is suitable for most of the notebook from 12" to 17". Here is the main module which contains two 70*70*15 mm fans with expected running at 2000RPM which is pretty silent with estimated noise less than 20dBA and 13.72CFM. Stronger fan is more preferred but it must come with fan speed controller so user can adjust the fan speed as well with acceptable noise level.

 

As we mentioned previously Vizo Ninja HS has unique design where the fans can be adjusted to cool down the specific hot zone of most of the notebook. Above picture is showing that horizontal fan adjustment by just lightly unscrew the four fan screws. The fan cables are sleeved which is good but unexpected because most of the suppliers will not sleeve the cable in order to reduce the cost.

 

Vizo Ninja HS comes with three USB2.0 ports and this is necessary as currently most of the computer peripherals are using USB port and this is keep on increasing so it is good to have USB port as many as possible. There is one USB IN connector to connect the Ninja HS to the notebook in order to power up Ninja HS fans and USB ports. Besides that there is another port for DC power input to power up the fans without connects to notebook.

 

Here are the left and right side modules and there are symmetrical so users can install them in either direction. There are 2 steel rods to join the upper & bottom side modules together which have been done by Vizo at default. These side modules are made by aluminum as well and it is quite light but the paint surface is a bit rough.

 

Vizo Ninja HS has another feature where at the back of the left and right side modules, it has a roller to allow users to move or adjust the notebook from one location to another location without carry the whole notebook with the notebook cooler. Previous we have discussed on how the fan can move horizontally and now here is the explanation for the vertical adjustment. The number indicator is to allow user setup and memorize the correct location without much hassle.

 

At the front end of the left and right modules, it has a hard blocking knob to hold the notebook from being slide down and at the bottom of the front end side modules it have a non sliding rubber base to hold the notebook cooler firmly.

Installation will take around five to ten minutes on this Vizo Ninja HS depend your familiarity. Basically installation is pretty simple where user just neeed to screw the main cooler to both side modules at both end and adjust the vertical and horizontal fan placement to suit user's notebook hot zone. Lastly just flip over the whole cooler and it is ready to cool down your notebook. If the fan placement is not right, user can repeat the step again to maximize the cooling efficiency. Overall the installation is not hard but in order to do it right is not simple too because while fixing the main cooler with the side modules, it will take some time to install them correctly and need to align with another end of the side module; better use a screw driver else it is hard to secure the main cooler on the side modules.

 

Vizo Ninja HS can support notebook from 12" to 17" and here is the picture where we use a giant notebook from Dell; Inspiron E1720. Although the notebook is bigger than Vizo Ninja HS but the notebook still sit pretty stable on top of this cooler.

For the comfortable, I would say this Vizo Ninja HS is pretty good as it will allow user to use the keyboard in more comfortable way but this is very subjective where it depends on how height of the chair and table of the user. If Vizo could design such notebook cooler with adjustable height of the notebook cooler then it will be perfect and will be suitable for everyone in everywhere. Both of the fans are running very silent due to its low RPM and CFM. If you would like to cool down the notebook better you would consider changing the fans to much stronger CFM fans but remembering this will void the warranty.

From the test results above, it is clearly shown that with Vizo Ninja HS is able to cool down the CPU 4 degree and 2 degree for GPU during full load on our test system. During idle load, there isn't any differences for GPU and this could be due to the GPU of this notebook isn't have any active or direct ventilation to allow the Vizo Ninja HS to cool it down directly. However for CPU during idle load, there is 3 degrees lesser with Vizo Ninja HS. Basically when the notebook is lifted away from the table or desk, it will have better ventilation already and with the help of these fans, it help to cool down the notebook temperature further.

 

Conclusion

Overall Vizo Ninja HS is great product and it is one of the best notebook coolers in the market right now with unique and great features and outstanding performance to cool down the notebook efficiently without generate unacceptable noise. It can support 12" to 17" notebook and its adjustable fan location in horizontal and vertical way is absolutely fabulous. Its MSRP is around 59 to 69USD which is a bit expensive but with such good product, it is definitely worth for it.
