Product: BeamAir
Manufacturer: Nexus
Supplied by: Nexus
Price: 5.4USD/RM19
Launch Date: Sep 2008
All the while most of the PC manufacturers are trying to produce some coolers or fans which are not only good in term of cooling but also silent as well. Today, let us bring you an unique product from Nexus; BeamAir. Beam is neither a fan nor cooler but it helps to increase the cooling effectiveness by concentrate the air flow; basically it is an air guider for a fan.
Company Profile

Nexus Technology BV was established in 2000 by a group of experts on heat conductivity and noise reduction in the computer industry. The founders have build up an in depth knowledge and experience on heat conductivity issues and thermal characteristics by working closely with many of the larger pc manufacturers for several years.
The idea to have a full line of high quality computer components to improve the working environment by reducing noise levels brought the founders together. Continuously developing products to reduce noise levels and consequentially improve heat conductivity and airflow.
Features:
- Afan adapter to make case fan more powerful.
- Simple... but very effective!
- The airflow of a casefan is in most situations scattered arround in an angle of all most 180° coming from the fan.
- Guides the airflow into a straight beam of air without causing obstruction or turbulance.
- The airflow is more powerfull, it has a greater reach and hence much more effective and efficient.
- The BeamAir is made from plastic material in a patent pending shape, design and function.
Specifications:
- Application for 120MM case Fan
- Dimensions 123x123x22 mm
- [LxWxH] 4.82x4.82x0.83 inch
- Materials Plastic
- Included in package BeamAir, 4x Mounting screws
Packaging
Nexus BeamAir comes with a very simple packaging where it is just packed by a simple plastic bag. The packaging has some simple graphs to show the air flow difference between with and without the BeamAir.

Nexus BeamAir also comes with 4 mounting screws, no user manual which doesn't really necessary because it is pretty simple for an air guider. I believe users will be grateful if Nexus has included some rubber fan mounts which is popular replacement for traditional screw.
Nexus BeamAir

How does the BeamAir work? Basically BeamAir is a very simple tool which helps to concentrate or guide the air flow into a straight beam of air so that the air flow can get blow further to cool down the computer hardware further. For a standard fan, the air flow is scattered around almost 180° out from the fan.

Nexus BeamAir is an air guider or can be called as air adapter which is purposely designed for case cooling especially for front intake cooling. Nexus has two models for the BeamAir, one is for 120mm fan while another one is for 80/92mm. Nexus BeamAir is made by plastic material which is in black color.
Nexus BeamAir has dimension with 123x123x22mm. The fan needs to be mounted inside the BeamAir and blowing toward the BeamAir through the Honeycomb fan holes which is proven it has better cooling efficiency than normal square or round fan holes which is widely used for PSU and casing cooling nowadays.
Nexus BeamAir is still pending patent for the shape, design and function which is stated on the BeamAir itself. Stopthenoise.com basically is Nexus.
Here are the testing that done by Nexus and the difference between the air flow without and with the Nexus BeamAir. Obviously without the BeamAir, the air flow is scattered around more than 120° and with the BeamAir, the air flow is concentrated at center which is only scattered around 10-30° only. This is extremely good in idea case. Let us go through the cooling testing for further understand the efficiency of this Nexus BeamAir.
Installation, Testing & Performance
Installation is very simple where users just need to install/mount a 120mm fan inside the Nexus BeamAir and install them either at front, side or top intake cooling because if it is for rear cooling and sucking out the air flow basically it doesn't help the inner PC components that inside the casing like system, processor, graphic card and etc.
Test Bed
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8300
CPU Cooler: NorthQ 3360A
Memory: 4GB 800MHz DDR2 Memory
Hard Drive: 250GB 7200RPM 8MB Seagate HDD
Graphic Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX280
Optical Drive: 16x DVD RW
System BIOS: F7
Operating System: Microsoft Window XP SP2
Benchmark Software: Gigabyte Easy Tune 6
Ambient Temperature: 27 Degree Celsius

For the testing, we have installed a 120mm fan with Nexus BeamAir as a front intake cooling of CoolerMaster Stacker casing. The results show that there are temperature improvement for both CPU and system cooling although it is just 2-3° for idle load and 1° for full load, we believe if your casing is equipped few more air intake coolers with this Nexus BeamAir then the results will be much significant better.
Conclusion
BeamAir is a great and innovative product from Nexus which is not only good in concept but work well for real test too. With such simple design, cheap and easy installation, we would recommend this great product from Nexus to those who need to further cool down their computer but please ensure this BeamAir is installed as intake fan in order to supply and guide the fresh air to flow through the inner of the casing. Nexus BeamAir is only costed around 5.4USD which is cheap if it really does help on improving the air flow inside your case.
Pros:
* Simple tool but effective
* Cheap
Cons:
* None
