Gelid Solutions GC-1 comes with standard packaging which sealed in a plastic bag. Some basic information of the Gelid Solutions GC-1 is stated on the packaging itself. However some of the technical information isn’t provided like thermal resistance, thermal conductance, average particle size, thermal limits and etc. However this information is only useful for those computer freaks whose have good electronic background as base on this information; it would give some brief idea about the performance and quality of this thermal compound.

Gelid Solutions GC-1 thermal compound is made of advanced silicone fluid and thermally conductive nano-filler particles where it will help the heat to be transfer quickly to heatsink from CPU. Some of the high end thermal compound that can be found in market are electrical conductive where it will cause short circuit if the thermal compound is accidentally drop or touch the PCB circuit. However Gelid Solutions GC-1 is a non conductive compound as it doesn’t contain any metal particles so users may not worry about the short circuit risk.

Gelid Solutions GC-1 comes with large green syringe where most of other brand will mostly have around 3.5gram and biggest tube I have seen is 12gram. Gelid Solutions claims that GC-1 will have consistent performance over approximately 10 years where the compound does not need to be reapplied nor is there any decrease in performance over time.

Unlike other thermal compound in the market, Gelid Solutions GC-1 doesn’t require any burn in time where it will perform as good as it is once users have applied them. Most of the thermal compound needs 25hours to 200hours burn in time in order to achieve the best performance.

Gelid Solutions GC-1 thermal compound is a bit watery maybe due to its lower density of the particle. However with this, Gelid Solutions GC-1 can be easily clean up with much hassle.

During application of the Gelid Solutions GC-1 with the applicator on our system, we found that it was difficult due to limited working space where the applicator gets blocked by some of the system components. However most of the ATX or Large ATX casing should not have this issue as our system is uSFF (ultra small form factor).

To be fair, all these three thermal compounds were burn in for same amount of time. During Idle load, all the three thermal compound perform same exactly same maybe due to low ambient temperature, however when the system went to full load, there is quite performance gap between stock thermal compound with Gelid Solutions GC-1 and Artic Silver 5. We were impressed with the Gelid Solutions GC-1 performance where it performs as good as Artic Silver 5 which is one of the most favorite thermal compound in the market quite some time ago.

** The test result may vary with different setup as it might be limited by the heatsink, fan or ambient temperature as well.

Conclusion

For those users with limited budget but still intend to achieve better cooling for their system no matter it is for processor or graphic card, thermal compound is very important. With Gelid Solutions GC-1, it can lower down the CPU temperature with around 4 Degree Celsius easily during our testing. When comes with comparing with other thermal compound, Gelid Solutions GC-1 is performance as good as the famous thermal compoung where previously most of the users have very limited choices when comes with thermal compound and with Gelid Solutions GC-1, now user can another great choice. We are highly recommended this product to you to get a cooler system without spending much.
