After reviewed the high end gaming headphones from TekNmotion, today we are going to bring you a budget headset from TekNmotion as well; Yapster which is an universal headset for chat/game/music and targeting low end market. If you don't wish to spend much on a headset; then Yapster should be one of your choices which is only selling at USD19.99.

Packaging

Although TekNmotion Yapster is a low end budgeted heatset but it still comes with decent packaging where the heatset is completely sealed inside a plastic transparent packaging box hence the whole TekNmotion Yapster headset can be seen through from outside.

At the back of the packaging, the detail of the TekNmotion Yapster is stated which still can't be found at TekNmotion website; hopefully they will update Yapster specification in TekNmotion website soon. Overall, TekNmotion Yapster only comes with the headset without any other accessories as everything is integrated within the headset; plug and play.

TekNmotion Yapster

TekNmotion Yapster was designed for customer that requires a headset for daily computer usage such as PC gaming, internet chat, VOIP, music and etc. Although TekNmotion is a low end headset but it still comes with 3 colors; pink, black and white in order to fulfill the customer need and to capture bigger market. The sample that we received is a white Yapster.

TekNmotion Yapster is a all in one headset and the size is around 20-30% smaller than TekNmotion PulseWave headphones. Yapster weight is around 1lbs or 0.5KG and it is half weight of PulseWave which is around 2lbs; lighter is always better. As you can see, the degree of the flexibility of the earmuff is quite high where it can be turned to almost 90 degree which will good as it will be much more comfortable for wearing such headset.

TekNmotion Yapster can be adjusted to suit for different users by pulling the earmuff away from headband. TekNmotion Yapster headset doesn't really come with top quality as you can see that the screws are exposed which is not really nice to see it. Hopefully TekNmotion will improve it in the following revision or replacement; just have a sticker or pad to cover the screw hole.

Although TekNmotion Yapster is a low end headset but it still comes with comfortable padded headband and earmuff that made by a soft material. The inner part of Yapster earmuff is a bit bigger than PulseWave so it is quite comfortable for wearing even for long period of gaming, movie, chatting and etc.

TekNmotion Yapster comes with a noise reduction designed microphone which is drop down boom type. The TekNmotion Yaspter microphone is very flexible which it can be bent or turn into any direction or shape to suit everyone. There are two types of microphones; unidirectional and omnidirectional. Both of them receive vibrations from outside and convert back to electronic signal and the difference among them is omnidirectional microphone can pick up sounds from virtually any direction but unidirectional microphone only pick up the sounds from center.

TekNmotion Yapster comes with controller for mute and volume control which are quite standard features for headset nowadays. It is good to have these features where users can adjust the volume control and mute instantly especially during gaming. TekNmotion Yapster has 2 audio jacks; green for audio and pink for mic. If the mic jacks is removable then will be better because no everyone will need this.

Installation, Testing & Performance

TekNmotion Yapster is a plug and play headset so no software or driver installations are required. Furthermore this headset doesn't support USB2.0 which will have external USB sound card and requires software and driver installations. TekNmotion Yaspter is good for those don't want go through the hassles installation and the media software need to be restart if external sound card is used after the movie or music have been started before connected to the headphone that has external USB sound card which is a known issue for a headphone that have external sound card like TekNmotion PulseWave.

For the performance, we would say it is pretty decent for a value headset. For chatting, normal pc gaming like those yahoo game, and normal movie, TekNmotion Yapster is good enough because users are hardly can differentia the performance between a high end and low end headset unless for music and some action movie where performance differences can be noticed easily.

We have tested TekNmotion Yapster and PulseWave and for comfortable, we would say TekNmotion Yapster is more comfortable than PulseWave after a long period of wearing. This is quite subjective as different user has different requirements, it is better to test out before get one.

Conclusion

For a 19.99 headset, definitely TekNmotion Yapster could be one of your choices among other value headsets but whether it is best value headset or not then it is up to you as this is subjective and there are many low end headsets in the market including those famous gaming brands. TekNmotion Yapster has the features for a value headset and if you can get this headset in your area and you are looking for a plug & play and cheap headset then you should try it out.
